Home for healing

I made it home last night around 130 am. Its good to be back and see the wasatch draped in white. I wish I could go ski but I pinched a nerve root in my low back so I have to take it easy and make sure things heal up for wengen.
I pinched the nerve in gardena let it rest then tried skiing in bormio in the second training run, which was a bad decision. It flared up again. The course was so rough and gnarly. Congrats to innerhofer, he's a good dude and he was stoked in the finish. It was good to see the boys lay it down as well. Marco and mac skied well and freedog had his first major crash since his leg injury and he walked away smiling and in one piece.

Merry christmas adam, eve and day

I'm here in bormio, italy. Christmas morning listening to the old church bells. Its not too shabby. People may think its a bummer that we don't get to go home for christmas but I enjoy christmas over here. Your not so bombarded with the american commercialism of christmas. It is a lot more simple over here. Christmas is more about gatherings, family, friends, relaxing and some good food than buying more and more and more stuff. Although we do have a funny gift exchange here every year which I do enjoy. People muster up some pretty funny gifts.
Well merry christmas to all and all I want for christmas is a powder day when I get home.
P.s. I never blogged about our us ski team showing in gardena. That was pretty cool to have half the names announced at the medals ceramony american. We now need the win so they can play the anthem.

The training runs are over and the val g race days start toworrow. Sg then downhill. today was a good day for me. It was the first time I have finished the saslong completely since I won here. It was a nice two year hiatus. It felt good to finally complete the course. I definatly had some mistakes but if I clean them up on race day all will be good.

BOP

The DH is over and so is the streak of American podiums in the DH.  It was a crazy race today.  congrats to Aksel.  An incredible performance.  He has always been comfortable on this hill and to come back after last seasons crash here and win the thing is awesome.
You could see how much the Americans wanted it today.  We were all charging and risking it knowing that if we got away with it we would be on the podium.  Bummer for Bode, Marco, Andrew and Worm.  But for the rest of the guys we had a good showing.  We were all in the top 30, with Fish finally scoring his first World Cup points.  Congrats to Mac, seeing him back in form was awesome, he's going to be a force once he becomes comfortable again.
Im pleased with my run.  I had a few mistakes but all in all I thought it was a good place to start this season, a good rebound from Lake Louise.

Im chilling at the Beav right now.   Training run #1 under my belt.  I skied well.  there were some wild winds blowing straight up the course.  It felt funny skiing in them.  I was tucking in parts of the course I normally wouldn't tuck in.  It looks like tomorrow will be a good day of training as well.

Heres a vid I stole from my brother blog,Im sorry Blake I had to bite this, I couldn't pass it up, its too funny.
