New FIS Regulations

On the lighter side concerning the new FIS ski regulations. If you are a ski racing fan you will think this is pretty funny! I hope it makes you laugh as much as it did me.

Super C!

Just finished the Super C! Im sad to say none of my teammates joined me for the journey but a couple of the coaches, Dane and Mikey, and mega photographer Selko (check out his photos here) made it up there with me.
Heres a couple photos I took from the top. I will try and edit the video footage ASAP. And hopefully get you some skiing footage as well!
Way Down there is Portillo. We ascended 1300M and descended even more. Im guessing 1600 M but I will just say my feet were killing me because I once again wore my race boots. Rookie!
Heres a pretty sweet shot of Aconcogua. The biggest Mountain in the Western Hemisphere. It is one big black rock.

The training has been fantastic thus far. We have had hard, icy conditions but the warm weather is coming, hopefully the snow still freezes at night.

Side Project

This couloir is beckoning me! Super C! I skied it last year for the first time but the camera I had broke so I have to make my way up there Thursday to get you some POV of this run. HopefullyI can convince a couple of my teammates to join me for the journey.

I dont want to hike up but the slide down is going to be well worth it.

Happy Birthday Chile

Today is Chile's Independence Day. Its a pretty big deal down here. When we make it down here we usually are up in Portillo isolated from the madness. But this year I flew in from Europe a day early and got to see the festivities in downtown Santiago.

These horses were dancing I swear!
As good as these people.
KA BOOM!
I wish I drove up to Portillo in this.
But I had to settle for this.
And we had to drive up this. But now it is time to get my ski on. Today we ran some GS and we free skied some DH off the jumps. Not a bad start to the camp. The snow is a plenty and the sun is supposed to be out all week, which means epic training with hard conditions! BANGARANG! DH tomorrow!!

24 hours of Moab with World Cup Dreams

I am riding the 24 hours of Moab bike race to raise money for
World Cup Dreams Foundation. It is a grueling race- 15 miles
per lap with half of those miles climbing, some 1350ft of elevation
per lap. Last year our team did 15 laps and over 223 miles in 24
hours. It will also be a lot of fun!

We are raising money for our Disability Fund which supports
athletes when they get injured. This is a critical program and this
year we are establishing our own support rather than using an
insurance policy through Lloyd's of London. To see more of our
programs, visit http://www.worldcupdreams.org

We have 4 teams of current and former US Ski Team members
competing, plus some friends! There are Olympians, World Cup
winners and podiums finishers, World Championship medalists
and National Champions all trying their hand at another sport.

Please consider donating to one of our teams. We have different
fundraising pages because we are racers after all, and competitive,
so each team wants to raise the most money for the Foundation.
If you can't decide, choose my team with Dane, Laura, Miles and
Kirsten.

How much? Have some fun- Maybe around $1 per mile ($225-250)
or a half a cent/foot ofelevation climed ($100) or a $1/ hour raced
($24). We would love your support in any amount.

Just click on the link of the team you would like your donation to go
to. (It all goes to the same place in the end)

Teams:
Erik Schlopy
Brandon Lawrence
Jason Travis
Matt Campbell
Alice McKennis
Scott Macartney
Evan Weiss
Keely Kelleher
Adam Cole
Chad Fleischer
Brett Fischer
Caroline Lalive
Bryon Friedman
Rob Lea
Dane Spencer
Miles Fink-Debray
Kirsten Callari
Steven Nyman
Laura Lemarche
Thank you!

Area 47

Today was pretty fun. After a day of weight training in the gym with the Swedes, Hans and Anton we decided to hit up Area 47. Its kind of like Area 51 but without the aliens and desert and....well actually its not like Area 51 at all. Enjoy the film

Like There's No Tomorrow

About a year ago I had the opportunity to film with Warren Miller and the Spyder crew in Portillo, Chile for this years WM movie Like There's No Tomorrow.
I got to see our segment while I was down in New Zealand shooting with Spyder (again). (WHat a tough life I lead) To say the least, the segment was awesome, I cant wait to see the whole film. Watching a Warren Miller film brings me back to when I was a kid and that was what got you super stoked for the winter! Now I live an endless winter!
