Yet in spite of these powers, they are not immune to the dangers of the sun. So white people must wear sunglasses. But what may surprise you is that while white people will spend upwards of three months finding a perfect pair of unique prescription glasses, they have no such requirement for sunglasses.

Right now, all white people are either wearing or coveting a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses.

These sunglasses are so popular now that you cannot swing a canvas bag at a farmers market without hitting a pair. In fact, at outdoor gatherings you should count the number of Wayfarers so you can determine exactly how white the event is. If you see no Wayfarers you are either at Country music concert or you are indoors.

White people love these Ray-Bans because they were very popular in the 1960s and the 1980s. This gives them a historical precedent and allows white people to classify them as “timeless.” That way when they purchase these sunglasses they can talk about how they were inspired by the fashion and music of these bygone eras. When a white person says this, you should just nod and mention how they look like young Johnny Cash, a dead Beach Boy, Audrey Hepburn or an extra from a John Hughes movie. This will make them happy and likely to give you their old, expensive sunglasses that you can sell for a significant profit.

Under no circumstances, should you imply that white people purchased their sunglasses because of celebrities that are not dead or because they saw them on other white people they think are cool. This will make them very upset as white people need to believe that they cannot be persuaded to buy anything.

Saying something like “man, it’s pretty amazing how 65 people at this outdoor concert all decided to get their sunglasses at exactly the same time,” should only be directed at a white person who is not wearing Wayfarers. This will make them feel better about not fitting in, but it will also make them self conscious about their plan to buy a pair.

(Note: a significant amount of white women are still wearing oversized sunglasses but they are a dying breed.)

Team nyman

Marco and I have a new Sprint teammate! Thanks Pat

Welcome to the quirky world of skier Steven Nyman
By PAT GRAHAM
AP Sports Writer
Ask Steven Nyman about skiing, and he'll tell you about life.
That's Nyman being Nyman, a hippie at heart who readily admits he should've been born in the '60s. The U.S. downhill skier is perpetually searching for the "inner-peace vibe," and he's always ready with a quip, an intuitive musing.
Like this one, when asked what's in store for the 27-year-old from
Provo, Utah, once his skiing days are done: "The future holds what the future holds. I'm a guy who kind of flies by the seat of his pants. I don't like making plans. I see something, and I go after it."
Right now, that's a spot on the team bound for the Vancouver Games. But it won't be easy: The U.S. downhill team is stacked, and Nyman is still working his way back from surgery in August on both knees.
In this case, his easygoing nature works in his favor. He's not stressing about the situation, fretting over knees that are still tender and taking time to round back into shape.
He had a disappointing performance at Beaver Creek last weekend, finishing 31st in the downhill. This on a course that's typically been good to him, taking third in '06 and second the following season.
"A bummer," he said after his run.
With a shrug, he transformed back into his forward-thinking self.
"It's all a confidence-building thing, it's all mileage, time on skis and just getting things rolling," said Nyman, who's currently in Lake
Louise, Alberta, to squeeze in extra races on the NorAm circuit, before rejoining the World Cup in Europe next week. "The more miles under my feet, the better I feel."
Nyman likes to think of himself as water, constantly flowing along,
molding and adapting to each situation. His skiing follows a similar pattern.
"Nyman is a tremendous freeskier, a feeler - feels the mountain, feels
the snow," U.S. Ski Team men's coach Sasha Rearick said. "He competes very well on big-event days."
His knee surgeries are just a tiny ripple in the stream, another
challenge as he tries to make his second Olympic squad.
"You control what you can control and hope for the best," said Nyman, who tied for 19th in the downhill at the Turin Games in 2006. "That's kind of what I've learned and roll through in life with."
Welcome to "Planet Provo." Population: Nyman.
He was given that nickname by his teammates for sometimes orbiting in his own little universe. Nyman's always attempting to find harmony
within - an "inner-peace vibe," as he likes to describe it.
So, what exactly does that mean?
"You feel the balance, the need, and you go after it," he explained.
"It's hard to describe the inner-peace vibe."
Want to see his eyes light up?
Mention his vegetable garden. He's developed quite the green thumb, growing bell peppers, jalapenos, butternut squash, zucchini, carrots and string beans, to name a few. He spent hours tilling and nurturing that garden last summer.
It's his baby, his escape.
But if you want to know what's going on at "Planet Provo" check his Web site - "Nyman's World" - where he posts videos (his "moonwalk" footage in a Calgary airport), pictures (a nasty road rash he received after a spill on his bicycle) and predictions (picking Ted Ligety to win in Soelden, Austria, in October - Ligety finished second).
There was a time when Nyman was the up-and-comer on the World Cup circuit, especially after winning the downhill in Val Gardena, Italy, in 2006.
Then injuries veered him off course.
Nearly two years ago at Kitzbuehel, his back stiffened after hitting a rut. That's when an MRI revealed a disk bulging out to the side, pinching off the nerve. He had to wear a custom-fitted cast for six weeks.
Last January, it was a badly bruised shin, the result of crashing into a gate during the downhill in Wengen, Switzerland.
That one lingered, the pain shifting to his knee. But doctors couldn't
locate the source on an MRI.
Bone bruising was the common thought.
His knee constantly ached, though. So much so that he couldn't even
kite surf, one of his favorite summertime activities.
Finally, doctors discovered inflamed plica, a layer of tissue around the knee. While they were operating on one, Nyman figured, why not do the other as well?
"It's good to clean out the old wheels," Nyman said. "Everybody's got their scars."
With that in mind, why exactly does he keep clicking back into those skis and rocketing down the slopes at harrowing speeds?
He pondered that thought for a second as he settled deeper into his chair.
"It's accomplishing that goal, setting out and seeing what you need to do and scaring the (heck) out of yourself doing it," Nyman explained.
"You're like, 'All right, I know I can handle this.' You convince
yourself of it. Once you step back and look at it logically you're like,
'I'm nuts.'"
---
On the Net: http://www.nymansworld.com

Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://nymansworld.blogspot.com/2009/12/enjoy-funny-story-written-about-me.html' title='Enjoy the funny story written about me. Seeing that I am currently ranked 189 in the world in SG I decided the latter so I can work on my points so I will have a better World Cup start position.
The previous two world cups went well. I skied well but wasn't willing to throw it down the hill. I was hesitant and not too comfortable. I am trying to gain confidence. But I came into them with little expectations, just trying to gain miles on my boards.
The decision to come up here has been a good one. I am getting my feet back under me and this is a great hill to do so. The course is still in great shape after the two World Cups and the weather has been and is supposed to be great this whole week, nice and sunny and cccccccold, -31c cold.
I have been feeling pretty good. My focus is just refining my movements and to continue moving over my boards. I am skiing well and balanced and I am becoming more and more comfortable on my skis so now it is time to try and find that extra speed. Basically I have to become comfortable enough to start moving down the hill more and be willing to go faster and faster. No more hesitation, it is time to charge!
It is also great to be up here with the young up and comers on the US Ski Team. Their passion and excitement is motivating and contagious. The young guys and gals are simply stoked to be skiing and they are eager to learn which makes it fun for me, because not only am I an example but a teacher as well. It also helps me recognize how easy we have it on the World Cup Tour.

Adios
Steven
Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®

Back north

I decided to head back up to lake louise nor ams to get my feet back under me and more miles on my skis.
Beaver creek was a disappointment but I really don't have any expectations right now. The beautiful lady has never treated me well but one day she will. It was good to ski a full length World Cup. My body needed to know what it has to take. It is definitely sore, I have only trained on a 1 minute Downhill on soft snow. Then jumping into 2 minute icy bumpy course was a shock! My butt was super sore but my body is adapting and getting stronger and stronger every day. I am also feeling more and more balanced on my boards. I just need to start pushing myself and not worrying about the mistakes. I also need to trust myself and know my body can handle what I put it through.

My thoughts go out to T.J. Lanning and John Kucera for speedy recoveries. It is always tough to see guys go down. I have been through my fare and know the battle it is to get back on the horse. He has been through too many injuries and doesn't deserve this, nobody does, but he just can't get a break. Send all your support his way. You can follow T.J. on Twitter at TheLanning. Today was funny, I was extremely nervous! My summer training was cut short and I basically a 1/4 of the normal prep period I am used to, so I was standing in the start pretty nervous. Not really knowing what to expect, I was guessing how I was going to handle the course set here and the different snow. The training I have had until now basically consisted of flats and fairly easy snow. But I made it down in one piece and I wasn't that bad either!

The course crew here in Lake Louise have bucked up this year. Rumor has it that someone said the course here has been really easy the past few years. In response the crew injected the majority of the course with water and they enhanced some of the terrain features. Which makes the course a bit more difficult and fun. I kind of wish they kept it a little easier because of the lack of training I have had. But I'm not worried.

Today was good, I was feeling good while I was moving down the course. I have to iron out some timing issues but I am comfortable on my long boards and feel I can push my limits a lot further. I have a lot of room to improve.

My knee felt fine while skiing today, but is a little tender tonight. I will see how it feels when I wake up tomorrow morning. I think it is something I have to deal with through this whole season and defiantly have to gut it out these first few races because I tend to do well in them and want to do well in them so I can get the Olympic qualifying thing out of the way and I can just concentrate on my skiing.

Moonwalk the earth

So I think I'm gonna start a moon walking blog. It feels good just to have some boards on my feet and stand in lift lines. I enjoy seeing all the various mountain characters from the implant wannabe gangsta thugs, free flowing dreaded hippies to the classic guy who just figured skiing would be fun and would resurrect his old gear from the 70s and take a few runs. I love what the mountain brings out and the enjoyment it brings to people. Just simply sliding down the mountain brings enjoyment. It does amaze me how many people come up to the resorts when there is only one run open and it is jam packed. The white ribbon of death is what they call it here and I defiantly feel that way.

But now I am in Copper running gates! DH, SG and GS. We have had epic conditions and our training in Vail has been premier, it would be safe to say the best in the world right now, along with the weather. There's nothing like Downhill at 6 AM then driving to Vail and training full length GS in 50-60degree weather! Then finishing training off by laying in the sun at the bottom of the hill working on your goggle tan.

I have exceeded my expectations so far. My body feels good and is getting better and better each day. My knees and back are getting stronger and stronger and I feel great every morning when I wake up.

It has been a good time to get back with the boys as well. We are heckling each other with fantasy football and having the football pools every weekend, along with putting on our training runs.

It is nice to be back with Leo and his humor. We developed some great skis before I called it quits last season and I finally got to ski on them. They are feeling fast and strong and ready to roll this season. We have also been doing some photo shoots for this season Fischer ad.

here's another thing that will make you laugh

See more funny videos and TBT Videos at Today's Big Thing.

Well adios for now and I will try and write more soon

Steven

The flame has arrived!

I just woke up this morning and saw that the Olympic flame will arrive in Canada today. It didn't seem that long ago when the Olympics were here in Utah but that was eight years ago! This brought back so many memories. I was fortunate enough to be a support runner for the 2002 Games the day of the Opening ceremonies and was able to hold the torch for a brief moment. (I will try and track down some pictures.)
Reading about the flame just fired me up! (no pun intended) The Olympics are close! It is an exciting time, the energy is building and winter sports enthusiasts are getting excited.
It is going to be an interesting year for the US Men's Speed team. We have eight guys who are capable of not only making the Olympics but in my opinion being Medal contenders, if they ski to their potential. We have three World Cup winners on our team, four who have podiums, six who have top fives, eight who have top 10's. I don't know if I can say it's the deepest team ever, but I can say that pretty good and it is going to be a battle this season just to qualify for the Olympic team.
I have a long way to go with just getting cleared to ski but I am feeling a lot better than I have in a while. My back feels fantastic and my knee is still tender but it is feeling the best it has since my crash in Wengen. I head off to Colorado November 1st and will start my on snow progression, slowly making sure my knee can handle what I give it.
Reading about the Olympic flame has me excited. So we will see what Colorado has in store.

Adios
Steven

P.S. I going to start blogging once again. I took a nice break through the summer but I am going to try and be more consistent so keep checking in.

My picks

I forgot some of my picks but if I remember correctly this is what I am calling for Solden

Women
1Tanya poutianien
2Vonn
3Jaquemond
4Zettle
5Holmner
6Tessa worley

8Julia

All us women making top 30

Men
1Ted
2Aksel
3Raich
4Fanara
5Cuche
6Grange
7Blardone

9Jittlof

All us men making top 30 even mr warren nicker so

Go red white and blue
Sent on the Now Network from my Sprint® BlackBerry

The Anti Energy Drink

My brother showed me this I thought it was pretty funny.

http://www.impactlab.com/2009/07/28/slow-cow-the-anti-energy-drink/

Codewa

Good news! It has been extremely frustrating trying to figure out my knees but I think I am on the right track now. All of my images were fairly negative only hinting toward some bone bruising on my patellas. So I focused on healing those. When my pain never subsided kept digging deeper. Finally Dr Sterette at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail brought me in and took a more aggressive approach at my knees. He said they could see some build up in the plica (spelling?) which is a flap of tissue which sits underneath the quad tendon which connects to the patella. They think it was inflamed from my crash at Wengen and then I kept on it which never let it settle down and it started getting bigger and bigger. I also had minor tear in my quad tendon which wasn't healing and it probably wasn't healing because this plica was constantly irritating it. So with the removal of the plica hopefully it will give me space to heal and also reduce the pain in my knee. Seadman and Sterette were on point with their call and when they went into the knee there was a bunch of build up in the left knee also some random floating pieces in there as well. Also some synivitus (or something that sounds similar?, basically a tissue buildup) which they also removed. So now my knee has room to breathe and hopefully heal. My right knee was experiencing similar pains but not to the same level as the left so I told them to go in there as well and they found similar build up but in a more concentrated area. It was pretty interesting to watch. I decided to go local through the procedure and watch what was going on. It is incredible what medicine can do these days. I want to give a big up to Dr, Sterette, Steadman, all the other helpers, nurse Harriet, April, Stacy and a really big thanks to Ellen and the Foster Family for taking care of me while I am down and out.
Hopefully I write more on the blog while I'm out but mostly I have been sticking to twitter. It didn't feel like it to me. We all started at a good clip and hung together for a bit then people started spreading out. Long story short. I ended up getting 3rd a board length behind Eric Schlopy and we were about 200 yards behind this pro guy who had a race board but was wicked fast. We ended up figuring out he was top 5 in the world in SUP racing. I wish I remember is name. But he lives in Eden and California and bounces back and forth between the two.

I'm just rambling so click here for some shots and I also think someone tagged me on my face book with some more. SUP PHOTOS

Also check out the shots of the event that followed. As the SUP race ended the sailing race started. The boats got half way down the lake and a huge storm blew through. I MEAN NASTY! I felt like Lieutenant Dan in Forest Gump watching this thing. The sail boats couldn't get off the lake in time and 15 boats capsized. But luckily nobody was hurt. I think thy have to re hold the Utah Summer Games Sail Boat race!

Len10

Check this kid out. He is absolutely nuts!
